Free news, fake news, deep fakes, data, digitization. Developments in the media world are going so fast that they can hardly be kept up with by classic news media. In this field of tension between the technologically possible and journalistic desirable, the public is meanwhile more demanding and erratic than ever before. What developments should news media embrace? What do they leave behind? How do value, truth and meaning survive in this cauldron?
Dit Word Het Nieuws focuses on these questions during a stimulating meeting in which experts from the arts, technology and journalism look at the news provision of the future. They investigate how they can reinforce each other to cope with the constantly changing relationship between media and public. Established news media are both subject and judges at the same time: they are overloaded with ideas, innovations and good advice and are asked to assess them.
