Educational design platform Open Set, in collaboration with the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, welcomes you to its public seminar on November 24th 2017 on the occasion of Memories of the Future: Facts and Fiction. In this session, the 2017 LAB participants and interested visitors will be able to join 4 lectures by renowned experts.
Dr. Piet Bakker, lector Mass media and Digitisation at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, will discuss his research into the role of design into cross-media journalism. Followed by an presentation of the interdisciplinary platform for journalism & design ACED, who will focus on the power of artistic / subjective expressions in journalism, how fiction (art) in combination with facts can bring new representation of current issues. Researcher in Information Retrieval Daan Odijk, will present his on-going research on implementing user interaction findings in relation to journalism platform Blendle. Rik Smit from the University of Groningen Centre for Media and Journalism Studies, will discuss how seemingly truthful recordings of events mediates their memory.
The event takes place at the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, in the framework of Open Set Lab and the temporary exhibition: Nieuws of Nonsense.
